A little roundup on our trip to Évora Portugal with Octant Hotel and Sauce Travel. Évora is a little town nestled in the countryside outside of Lisbon, allowing yourself to freely embrace and truly relax in world's nature and farm animals. Buried within is the beautiful modern and luxurious hotel, Octant Evora. The perfect oxymoron, offering the luxury of both worlds, to reside within their modern and contemporary facilities or the option to escape into simple countryside nature.
Octant Évora thought of every aspect, providing you with multiple options whether you are after an adventurous vacation or a more relaxed stay they have you covered. Leaving no one behind, children and pets are more than welcome, providing facilities for children to also kick back and relax (or the latter!).
Overall, I had the most tranquil vacation staying in one of their most luxurious villas. Allowing the flexibility to have days to truly unwind and days to be a little more audacious and explore the outside town. Listed below are a number of things we got up to and my experience of each activity as a whole.
Truly terrified of the thought of being on a horse and trusting their tepermantel nature, after a lot of encouragement I finally plucked up the courage to get on the horse and experience the most stunning countryside horse ride for the first time in my life. Breathtaking views along the way and spending time with such majestic animals was most definitely a pivotal part of my trip here.
Sunflower the goat was the highlight of our farm visit, a very lovable creature but a tad aggressive with the love. All animals at their farm are cared and loved for immensely!
4. Evora Town Centre - Tour Guide
The most eccentric and small traditional town, with so much Arabian, Roman and French history residing within their architecture. Unique, bold and intricately painted ceramics and pottery scattered all over the town in little narrow shops, which you can't miss and stop yourself from taking home. We also tried 'Pastel de Nada' (traditional Portuguese pastry) for the first time and tasted of delicious custard delights. It is definitely a place where you can truly immerse yourself in rich traditions, culture and history.
5. Food
Octant Evora have their own restaurant called the 'A Terra' offering seasonal menus based on sustainable food that is sourced from local suppliers, products from the region and from their own 'green corner' which includes fruit trees and organic vegetable garden (growing their own veggies and herbs).
I had the opportunity to try Octopus rice for the first time, a very unique dish to say the least! They had a wide range to select from and was very fond of their fish dishes and in particular their egg and potato starter. The food specialties/experience doesn't stop there they offer an option to book a picnic on the estate to your own acquired taste and liking. You can also experience the chef's tables outside within their vegetable gardens.
Further experiences available: Hot Air Balloon, Animal Yoga, Pottery Classes, Harvesting as a Family, Hiking, and Star Gazing.
